Name: Leopard Gecko
Substrate: Slate, ceramic or porcelain tiles, vinyl floor tiles (adhesive). NO SAND OR GRAVEL!
Tank Size: 10-20gal long.
Heat: UTH w/thermostat. 1/3 of the tank should be covered by the heat mat.
Temps: 88-95*F. Ambient temp 73*. Bump it up to 98* if the gecko is sick.
Accessories: Two identical hides, a humid hide, background, water bowl, fake plants.
Food: Dechlorinated water, crickets, discoid roaches, mealworms, superworms, phoenix worms, 2-4 per feeding.
Supplements: 0-6 months –Feed every day. 5 out of 7 days dust with calcium, 2 out of 7 days dust with vitamins and minerals.
6-12 months – Feed every other day. 3 of the feeds dust with calcium, 1 of the feeds dust with vitamins and minerals.
12+ months – Feed every 3-4 days. 3 feeds dust with calcium, 1 feed dust with vitamins and minerals.
Facts: They are Crepuscular, which means awake at twilight and dawn or dusk. They are solitary animals who do not need companions. They live 6-10+ years, and females grow to be 7”-8” long, males 8”-10”.
Name: Ball Python
Substrate: Shredded aspen, paper towel, mulch, cocofiber, newspaper. NO PINE! IT IS TOXIC TO BP’s!
Tank Size: 10-20gal long for babies, 40gal long for adults. Another option is tubs, 32qt tub for adult male, 41 qt tub for adult female.
Heat: UTH w/ thermostat. No UVB needed.
Temps: 89*-92*F hotspot. Cool side and ambient 80*-mid 70*s.
Humidity: 50-60%. Bump up to 70% when in shed.
Accessories: 2 open bottomed hides, water bowl big enough for snake to soak in, fake plants, limbs.
Food: A rat the size of or slightly smaller than the “hips” of the snake, once a week at the same time, preferably dawn or dusk.
Facts: Nocturnal, so you won’t see much of them unless you are a night owl. They live 20-40 years, and females grow to be 6’ long, males 3’-4’ long.
Name: Bearded Dragon
Substrate: Newspaper, ceramic tiles, paper towels. NO LOOSE SUBSTRATES LIKE SAND!
Tank Size: 20gal long for baby, 40gal breeder for an adult, or larger.
Heat: Overhead heat lamp with ceramic sockets. 100w bulb. Also a UVB light, T5 Reptisun 10.0 tube, NEVER coil bulb.
Temps: 98*-110*F basking spot. 80*-90* warm side, 80*-75* cool side. At night if temps fall below 65* get a ceramic heat emitter.
Accessories: Basking rock or log, bug bowl, salad bowl, shallow water bowl, branches, hide, toys.
Food: 80% protein 20% greens as a baby, 20% protein 80% when adults. Bugs like dubia roaches, superworms, crickets, daily twice when young, every other day when adults (2 years old). Offer salad made of collard greens, bok choy, mustard greens or dandelion greens every day, occasionally adding fruits or veggies. NO ICEBURG LETTUCE! Mist them lightly or give them a de-chlorinated bath every few days or a shallow water bowl.
Supplements: Dust bugs with calcium every meal, dust twice a week with vitamin + D3.
Facts: Very social. They live to be 15-20 years old, and grow to be 24”-30” long.
Name: Gargoyle Gecko
Substrate: Paper towels when babies, switch to coconut husk when 4 months old. NO SAND!
Tank Size: a 10gal will work for babies at minimum, but a upright 29gal is needed for adults.
Heat: Overhead heat lamp with a 50w bulb or higher. No UVB needed.
Temps: 75*-84*F during the day. Low 70*s at night. Basking temp 85*.
Humidity: 50%-65%. Mist daily to bump to 80% then let it fall back to 50%.
Accessories: Artificial or live plants, driftwood or branches, hides, water bowl, food bowl, cork bark.
Food: Dusted crickets, superworms, and waxworms once or twice a week. Pangea every day or every other day. For water they drink water drops off the walls and from a shallow water bowl de-chlorinated.
Supplements: Dust bugs with Calcium and vitamin+D3 once or twice a week. The Pangea will have a lot of the vitamins and such they need.
Facts: Nocturnal. Handle carefully especially with picking up. Gargoyle Gecko’s live to be 15-20 years old, and grow to be 8”-9” long.
Name: Blue Tongued Skink
Substrate: Shredded aspen, recycled paper, fir bark, cypress mulch (dry), newspaper.
Tank Size: Babies in 20gal, 40gal breeder or a custom made tank, bigger is always better for BTS!
Heat: Overhead heat lamp, 100w bulb. Reptisun 10.0 UVB light.
Temps: Basking spot 95*-100*F, cool side 75*-85*.
Accessories: Basking rock or log, hide for cool side, large shallow water bowl, bug bowl, salad bowl, logs, cork bark.
Food: 50% greens, 40% protein, 10% fruit. Feed daily as babies, every other day as adults. Fruits- banana, mango, cantaloupe, strawberries, blueberries. Greens- collard greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, carrots, squash, beans, peas. Protein- Ground turkey, superworms, dubia roaches, boiled chicken.
Supplements: Calcium at every feeding, vitamin + D3 used once a week.
Facts: Lives 15-20 years, grows to be 18”-24”.
